Today’s Announcements – September 12, 2014

Announcements:

Students can now apply for the Pink Ribbon Bowl Scholarship. This scholarship is for students who have had a parent impacted by breast cancer. The deadline to apply is September 29th.  For more information and application, see Mr. Jackson in the Guidance Office.

Congratulations to the undefeated Lady Mustang Soccer team, they defeated East Hamilton yesterday for their second big district win in overtime!

The date for Beta Club members to bring in dues has been extended through next Tuesday.  After that no money or applications will be accepted unless you’ve made arrangements with your grade sponsor.

Beta Club members:  If you missed the meeting on Thursday, please go by a sponsor’s room to pick up the meeting notes and a club pass to use for future meetings.

Students, Council Baptist Church is looking for students to help with a community picnic on Sunday, September 28 at 5:00pm.  If you are looking for service hours, come sign up in the main office.

School Pictures will be made on Tuesday, September 16th in the auditorium. The packages are prepaid, so make sure you have a picture envelope. They are available in the main office or G110.

The National Honor Society will be having their first meeting this coming Monday, September 15, in the Auditorium during CCRT time.  The yearly dues are $10.00 and should be paid by that time.  Please see Mrs. Wood or Mrs. Everett if you have any questions.  Thank you.

9th grade students, your permission slip for the Career Fair is due TODAY!  Don’t miss out on a great opportunity… Turn in your permission slip to your math teacher by TODAY!

Try outs for A Christmas Carol are next week!  See Mrs. Wright or look on our Twitter account (@WVHSDramaClub).  You have to have a prepared performance for tryouts so be sure you know the rules.

The New Spill App is now available for both iPhone and Android.  Search WVHS in the App Store.  School Calendars, Live Spill broadcasts including WVHS Football games, School Announcements, and more are available in one place…The Spill App.

Students if you need service hours, Charleston Elementary is having their Fall Festival on Saturday, Sept. 27.  They will need help.  If you are interested, please stop by Guidance.

Pink Ribbon Bowl t-shirts are on sale now in MCLA3, Ms. Brady’s room, and in the cafeteria during lunch.  Short sleeve are $10 and long sleeve are $15.  Shirts are available in both Navy and Pink.  Get yours today!

The Chamber of Commerce Leadership students are sponsoring a fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity.  STARS in the Valley, a teacher superlative show will be held today during Activity period.  Cost is $2.00 and you can purchase them during lunch or in Guidance.  Help support Habitat for Humanity and help Walker Valley raise the most money.

Seniors, picture retakes will be September 16th.  See Mrs. Gober in G110 for a pass to get your picture taken.  You will not be allowed out of class without a pass.

Attention 10th and 11th grade students.  The PSAT will be given on October 15.  If you are interested in taking the test, the cost is $15.00 and you will need to sign up (with payment) in the Guidance office by Sept. 17.  First block teachers should have more information posted in their classroom if you are interested or you may stop by Guidance to see Ms. McClanahan or Mrs. Akiona.
