The Junior Civitan Club’s first meeting is Tuesday, September 15 at 3:45 p.m. in the Main Office Conference Room B. If you can’t make it to the meeting, complete an application and someone from the club will contact you. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. ACT practice starts Wednesday, September 16. Practices will be every Wednesday and Friday morning at 7:30am. You need to meet outside the guidance office at 7:30am if you wish to participate.
Cover2Cover Book Club will meet Tuesday, September 29th in the media center. Please come by the media center and pick up a pass prior to this first meeting.
Any student interested in joining the creative writing club needs to attend an after school meeting on today, September 14th, in G111 from 3:30 to 4:30.
Credit Recovery is now open in BU1 during CCRT. Students must go by BU1 BEFORE 3rd block to get a pass from Mr. Dillon.
FBLA applications are now available. Please pick them up from any business teacher or outside MCLA3. The applications need to be returned by September 18th in order to be eligible to attend the Fall Leadership Day trip.
For 10th and 11th grade students, the PSAT measures skills that are important for success in college-verbal reasoning, critical reading, math problem-solving, and writing. Taking the PSAT enables students to: get feedback about critical academic skills, enter scholarship competitions, seek information from colleges, and practice for SAT program tests. 11th grade students may qualify for the National Merit Scholarship by taking this test. 10th grade students who wish to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship as 11th graders are encouraged to take this test as 10th graders to help them prepare for the qualifying test next year. Students are recommended to have a 3.0 in order to sign up for the PSAT. The Test date is Wednesday, October 14 8:30 am at Walker Valley High School. The fee is $15.00 per student to be paid for by the student and checks are made out to Walker Valley High School.
Students, school pictures are on Tuesday, September 15. Your teachers will have a schedule to remind you when you are to go to the auditorium to have yours made. Teachers may come to have your pictures taken at 7:30 that day.
The informational meeting for the 2017 cross-cultural trip to Spain, Portugal and France has been moved to Tuesday, September 22nd at 6:00pm in the Media Center. Students who enroll by the end of September will be eligible for a $200 early enrollment discount. There are still a few spots left for the Amazon gift card raffle, but spots are filling up fast.
