Good news Walker Valley! The $200 early enrollment discount has been extended until October 31st for anyone interested in enrolling on the cross-cultural trip to Spain, Portugal and France in the summer of 2017. There will be an informational meeting after fall break for anyone who wasn’t able to attend the September meeting. The meeting will take place in Mrs. Picchiottino’s room, G212 on Tuesday, October 20th, directly after school at 3:45. Please see Mrs. Picchiottino for further details.

Anyone who signed up to work on It’s a Wonderful Life need to have the forms turned in this week. Get them to Mrs. Wright in CL3 ASAP.

Oceanography Club dues and all paperwork (teacher references if you are a new member) are due to Mrs. Swafford in room B214 by Oct. 16th.  Club passes and the remind 101 code will be handed out when your dues are paid.  You must have a club pass for CCRT meetings, for a club t-shirt, and any future field trips.  If you missed the first meeting, come see Mrs. Swafford in B214 for a packet.

The softball team will be hosting a Faculty/Student basketball game this Friday, October 2 during Activity Period. Come out and watch your favorite teachers and students play, plus get out of class. Tickets are $1 each.  Softball players will be selling tickets during lunch and CCRT all week.  If you would like to play, please see Coach Limburg in G215.

Tryouts for Drama Club’s production of It’s a Wonderful Life will be Thursday, October 1.  We need lots of people for this production so come by Mrs. Wright’s room, CL3, to pick up an audition form.  You do not have to try out every day.  Pick one, but make sure you have the information from Mrs. Wright before you show up.

For 10th and 11th grade students, the PSAT measures skills that are important for success in college-verbal reasoning, critical reading, math problem-solving, and writing.  Taking the PSAT enables students to: get feedback about critical academic skills, enter scholarship competitions, seek information from colleges, and practice for SAT program tests.  11th grade students may qualify for the National Merit Scholarship by taking this test.  10th grade students who wish to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship as 11th graders are encouraged to take this test as 10th graders to help them prepare for the qualifying test next year.  Students are recommended to have a 3.0 in order to sign up for the PSAT.  The Test date is Wednesday, October 14  8:30 am at Walker Valley High School.  The fee is $15.00 per student to be paid for by the student and checks are made out to Walker Valley High School.
