Today’s Announcements – October 30, 2015

Announcements:

There will be a boys tennis meeting on Tuesday, November 3rd in Coach Long’s classroom, G201, right after school for anyone interested in playing tennis this year.

Attention Hiking Club members:  We will be taking our 2nd hike on Saturday, November 14.  We will be hiking the 12 mile Fiery Gizzard trail in Monteagle, Tennessee.  Backpacker Magazine has ranked this hike as one of the top 25 trails in the United States.   Please see Mrs. Tipton or Mrs. Shrestha for a permission slip.  Friday, November 6th is the deadline to sign up.  This hike is for experienced hikers only!!!

If any 10th or 11th grade student is interested in Governor’s School for 2016, please stop by Guidance for more information.  Applications are due the first week in December.  Please see Mrs. Akiona (1oth grade) or Ms. McClanahan (11th grade) ASAP.

The National Honor Society will begin conducting the annual food drive starting this Friday, October 30, during first block classes. All first block classes will receive one turkey feather per canned food item or 50 cent donation.  The goal is to add as many feathers as you can to the turkeys hanging on each door.  This will continue through Thursday, Nov. 5.  The first block class that gets the most feathers will win a fabulous breakfast compliments of NHS.  Please help WV give back to our community!

Come join us for the first Teacher Costume Contest on October 30 during activity period.  Tickets will be $2 and on sale Tuesday, October 27- Friday, October 30 in the choir room or during lunch.  Come see which teachers can be the most creative in their costume!!

If you are a freshman who has previously not been in Beta Club, come to B111 for an application.  Please bring your report card.  The deadline is Friday, October 30.

Seniors, the TNPromise application deadline is November 2nd. To make sure you don’t miss this opportunity, there is one more chance for you to get assistance with our application on October 28th during MAP in the Media Center. There will be staff available to sit down with you and walk you through the process. Your third block teachers will have passes available for the CCRT sessions. By completing the TNPromise application by the November 2nd deadline, your name will be entered into the drawing for a $25 iTunes gift card. There will be two winners selected. Don’t miss this opportunity for two years free college tuition!!

FBLA members, pick up coffee order forms in MCLA 3… forms and money are due by November 2nd.

FBLA members, you must sign up for competition by October 30th.

Lip Sync:  Battle of the Academies student act registrations are due by November 5th to your academy leads… Music must be preapproved and must be 2 minutes and 10 seconds in length….

Auditions for the musical “Mary Poppins” will be November 2, 4, and callbacks on the 5th.  If you are interested in auditioning, please come to the choir room to get your audition material.  There will be two help sessions on the 19th and 21st, during CCRT to learn the audition piece.  If you need a pass to come to one of those sessions, please see Mrs. Oran, Mr. Work, Mrs. Barnes, or Mrs. Hunt.  Please sign up for an audition time on the choir room door.

Students wishing to participate in the 2015 Christmas Memories/Empty Stocking program must come by the media center and sign up before October 29th in order to attend the informational meeting which will be held on Monday, November 2 during CCRT.
