2016 Color Guard Tryouts

By Aleesia Lankford, Walker Valley Freshman

Hello Walker Valley Students!

Starting in March, Color Guard tryouts will begin. Being in guard is a wonderful experience. It involves making new friends and bringing music to life. Guard adds a sensational twist to a typical, everyday marching band. Color Guard is about being you without fear of judgement.

The tryouts come in two sets with dance auditions coming first. You will learn a dance routine in a time period of two weeks and will perform it in front of a panel of judges. If you make it through the first set of auditions you go on to the next set of tryouts which is working with the flag. Just like dance, you will be taught a routine and will be required to perform it in front of the judges.

There will be getting to know each other games and lots of laughs, but you will need to be serious when it comes time to learn the routines and perform for the judges.

We will be having an informational meeting in the Walker Valley Band Room at 4 P.M. on Thursday, March 17th. Tryouts will start on March 29th.  We hope to see you there!
