Commercial Project Student Evaluation – Fall 2016

AV Production I Students:

Please answer the following questions.  Students must answer all questions in complete sentences and use broadcasting vocabulary.  Please use an email address that you currently use.  – Coach Webb

  1. What type of product are you producing a commercial for?
  2. Who is the target audience for your commercial and what type of income do they make? Why are finances important to consider when developing a commercial?
  3. The first phase of constructing commercials for a product is to tell the viewers they have a problem.  The second is to show how the product can solve the problem.  The final phase is to tell the viewer how they can get it.  Describe how you accomplished this with your commercial.
  4. What was the most difficult part of the shooting and editing phase?
  5. What was the most challenging aspect of  working for other people? (Remember most companies hire outside firms to create their commercial. In this case you are the outside firm contracted to create the commercial for the company’s product. What are the difference working for somebody vs. working for yourself?)
  6. List three things that you could have done to make the video flow better.

    1) An app.
    2) It is targeted to pet owners. No specific income.
    3) It shows a girl losing her dog and wanting to find her dog. Then it shows the app opening up and letting her find her dog. They can contact (555)-555-5555 or get the app.
    4) Being the dog, the lost dog poster wouldn’t show up, the audio, the brightness, people missing.
    5) Working alone is more difficult, while working with other people is easier because you can all keep tabs on each other.
    6) More camera angles, better voice acting, better music/audio, better acting.

1 We had a Pill to make you smart
2 people who don’t have common sense, different ranges, to see if they can buy it
3 we asked if you had problems, and showed the pills, and where to get the pills
4 getting the right camera angles and the voice over
5 having a set time, and getting everything right for the commercial
6better dialogue, scenes, and not being dumb

  3. 1. We are promoting our magazine, Meme Weekly.
    2. We are selling it to working teens and young adults who make enough to buy gas for their car and some extra stuff for themselves.
    3. We started with them being bored and fighting with coworkers, then we showed how it can solve it, we then showed the website and phone number where you can find it.
    4. Getting our placement right.
    5. Getting our ad to be the right time.
    6. We could have showed the magazine when it worked on the fight and being bored.

1)Our product is a Pet finder app.
2)People who have lost their pet(s) and there is no specific income necessary.
3)Well first we asked the viewers if they were tired of losing their pets. Second we showed Ashley opening the app. And third we said to find more information to call the number on the screen.
4)Making the videos the certain length was the most difficult.
5)Working for yourself is sometimes more difficult because you’re in charge of everything and you don’t have anyone to talk about it with. Working with other people you have other people to voice their opinions.
    6)1 explain our product more
2 make the voice over louder
3 not have focused on the acting so much

  5. 1) A self-improvement pill.
    2) People who could be considered idiotic and have an average income. You need to think about how much money the people you are advertising to most likely make.
    3) We showed people having trouble doing certain action and tasks, then we explain that the pills increase brain potential, and finally we showed the phone-number and where to get it.
    4) The most difficult part of shooting was making sure the pill bottle was in focus. The most difficult part of editing was making sure the music was not louder than the voice-over.
    5) The difference between working for yourself and working for somebody is that you don’t have as much creative control if you are working for somebody.
    6) We could have edited down a scene or two, added some voice over for the phone-number and slogan, and could’ve also done some things to make to video more energetic to improve the flow of the video.

  6. 1. Betelguese ghost repellant
    2. General population

    6. I think we did really good in that aspect

  7. 1: Pills that make you smarter.
2: Stupid people, and a minimum wage. If the target audience can’t afford the product, they wont buy it.
3: We told people they were stupid. Then we showed our pills. Then we showed a phone number and location they could buy it from.
4: The hardest part was shooting the falling down the stairs scene, and hurting my ankle. The hardest part to edit was lining up the audio with the video.
5: Making the video exactly like they liked. If we work for ourselves, we can make the video how we like it. If we work for somebody else, we have to conform to there needs.
6: Faster Transitions, better audio, better tag line.

  8. 1 We made a pill to make you smart
    2 People who are dumb
3 we asked if you where dumb, showed the pills, and where to get the pills
4 getting the best camera angles and the best voice over
5 having a set time, acting, and getting everything right for the commercial
6 better dialogue, scenes, and not being da huge face jerk man

    pikachu

  10. 1. We are promoting a magazine called Meme Weekly
    2. For young adults and older high school students.
    3. We showed the problems of boredom, fighting, and loneliness and we said Memes could solve these issues and then proceeded to show our audience where to get Meme Weekly to solve the problems at hand.
    4. The most difficult part of the shooting phase was the fight scene and stopping it at just the right moment.

    1) We produced a commercial for Scandal Eyes Mascara.
2)The target audience was teenage girls and ladies who make minimum wage.
3)The problem was someone having short and dull eyelashes. It was solved by showing how the mascara lengthens and strengthens ones lashes. We showed that the product can be gotten at the local convenience stores and ordered over the phone.
4)The most difficult part of the shooting was making sure we had many different angles and shots while shooting. The difficult part of editing was getting everything put together at the right spot and making sure we didn’t go over or under the time limits.
    5) The most challenging aspect of working for/with other people was coping and agreeing with each other on the same things.
    6) Three things we could have done to make the video flow better was have even more angles, speak more clearly, and make sure everything lines up correctly.

    1.) Mascara
2.) Our main audience is girls who want good eyelashes.
3.) 1st we asked them if they wanted thin, dull eyelashes then showed them our product to make them better. Then we ended with a number to call and buy our product.
4.) Getting the ding to match with Carissa’s wink.
5.) The hardest part of working with other people was trying to agree on the same ideas.
6.) More camera angles, speak more clearly, -‘s make sure everything lines up.

6.Having the ghost disappear and Eli’s body messing up. Then having the title at the end was short. Lastly managing time wisely.

    1. Our commercial was for a fictional ghost repellant spray.
    2. Our target audience was general population. The income varies depending on their job. Finances are important so that you can make sure your product is affordable.
    3. We accomplished this by showing Eli having troubles with ghosts and how our product solved them. We showed a testimony of how the product helped Chandler. We then talked directly to the audience and showed how you could get more information and order the product.
    4. The most difficult part was filming the scenes with Sabrina as the ghost.
    5. It was challenging because we had to try to make the product sell to people.
    6. We could’ve done better on the ghost scenes and montage. We also could have displayed the contact information longer towards the end.

    4) Not many times were we all here to record so it was difficult getting the right video.
    5) Having to decide on what product to make.

  26. 1) Toe tunes, speakers on your feet.
    2) People that like to listen to music and like shoes. To let people know there options and stuff.
    3) We put all of it in and put it in order.
    4) The audio room because it was different.
    5) Trying to get everything perfect and in order.
    6) We put in the slogan we didn’t have people in the background. Not have the brightness in that one scene.

  27. 1)Pet finder app
2)People who have lost their pet or pets and there is no specific income necessary.
3)First we asked the viewers if they were tired of losing their pet/s. Then we showed Ashlie opening up the app. And lastly we said for more information to call the number on the screen.

  28. 1.) We were trying to sell band merch.
2.) Our target audience were pre teens and teens. They would probably be making minimum wage if they had a job at all so they’d have to save some money before being able to buy the product. It is important to make the cost affordable or not too pricey for the group you are targeting.
3.) The people before were very depressed and bored, but when they wore the merch they were either happy or slightly less depressed. We showcased the product by having someone wear it or laying it out somewhere to get a better look at it.
4.) The most difficult part of the filming phase was getting enough shots for it to seem like a commercial but not too many that it would feel choppy. The most difficult part of the editing phase was making it entertaining. I tried to edit it in a way that made it relatable.
5.) It was difficult to get everything to be perfect and time it right. If we were working alone it would’ve been a shorter video and probably not as good.
6.) We could’ve made a sketch, gotten more shots of the people before the product, and worked on the audio a little more.
