Open House Tonight!

OPEN HOUSE and 8TH GRADE REGISTRATION NIGHT:

Walker Valley High School is excited to open our doors on a special evening as we welcome students, families, and community leaders to take part in what promises to be a true showcase evening.  We want to invite all rising freshman students to our registration event that will occur this evening.  Each registering student will be designated a registration time based on the student’s last name.  During this time, held in the auditorium, each student and their family will be walked through the registration and course selection process.  There will be opportunity for questions to be answered as these new members of our Mustang family begin the process of transitioning to Walker Valley High School as the Class of 2021!

Registration times are as follows:

Student Last Name A – C:  5:45PM

Student Last Name D – H: 6:15PM

Student Last Name I – O: 6:45PM

Student Last Name P – Z: 7:15PM

MAKEUP REGISTRATION: 7:45PM

This process will begin promptly.  We will ask that families be on time and seated in the auditorium for their time slot as we work to keep the process running smoothly for all groups.

Beyond the registration process, individuals will have the opportunity to partake in a number of events on campus.  Our doors will open at 5:30pm as Walker Valley students greet and welcome our guests for the evening.  We will have an “open house” type feel, as families will have the ability to move through a guided tour of the campus via our Mustang Mentors.  These tours will be available throughout the night at a family’s leisure.

Families will also be invited to attend our Walker Valley Clubs and Activities Fair, which will take place in the gym.  This event will allow students and families the opportunity to see what being a Mustang is all about.  We will have a number of faculty and student representatives at each booth, ready to answer any question or to provide you with information as needed.

The night will also feature a ‘Meet and Greet’ with our Mustang Café staff.  Families will enjoy some of our delicious food choices as café samples are made available.  Mrs. Angie, our cafeteria manager and Chief Chef, will greet families and discuss the lunch process and answer questions that families may have.  You won’t want to miss this experience!

Our Career and Technical Education programs will also be showcased as families will have the opportunity to explore a variety of elective courses and programs.  Within this feature, students and families will be able to tour the Mustang Greenhouse, which features plants and vegetables that are grown and sustained by our own students.

Younger students and family members will be able to enjoy Walker Valley Field Day, as our Student Government Association hosts fun and challenging events in the front field of the school.  Come take a turn at these exciting events and meet with our SGA students.  We will also have our 70-foot climbing wall ready and waiting for those individuals looking for new, exciting heights to challenge them!

Our campus will also be buzzing with different sporting events that are scheduled for that evening!  We are encouraging everyone to take time to visit these different activities FREE OF CHARGE!  Simply come by our main office and receive an event-pass that will allow you to check out any of these events:

Mustang Soccer vs. Sweetwater (6:00pm)

Softball vs. GPS (5:00 pm)

JV Baseball vs. Meigs County (4:30pm)

Varsity Baseball vs. Meigs County (7:00pm)

Football Spring Open House (6:30pm)

Finally, our new Mustang Families will be able to meet with the Walker Valley Freshman Academy staff and tour the Freshman Academy facilities.  This unique opportunity will provide students and families a special time to begin the process of forming that most important relationship between family and teacher.  We are excited to open our doors and give our families the chance to see the great instructional and relational elements of the Freshman Academy.

This night promises to be a unique experience for all that attend!  We are thrilled to host this special evening and hope that you and your family will make plans to attend.
